Terms of Service

Last updated: May 9, 2026

Acceptance of terms

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of Citerion, an AI visibility platform operated by Ummehaani Kapasi, a sole proprietor based in Suwanee, Georgia, United States. By creating an account, running an audit, or otherwise using citerion.ai or app.citerion.ai, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the service.

The service

Citerion provides AI visibility audits, citation tracking, competitor benchmarking, and related analytics across major AI engines including ChatGPT, Claude, Perplexity, and Gemini. The specific features available to you depend on your plan (Free, Starter, or Pro). Citerion is provided "as is" and we may update, modify, or discontinue features at any time.

Account and eligibility

You must be at least 18 years old to use Citerion. By creating an account, you confirm that the information you provide is accurate and that you have the authority to enter these Terms (whether on your own behalf or for a business you represent).

You are responsible for keeping your account credentials secure. You are responsible for all activity on your account. Notify us immediately at support@citerion.ai if you suspect unauthorized access.

Free plan

The Free plan allows one audit per visitor with no login required. The Free plan is provided as a one-time visibility check. Citerion may rate-limit, throttle, or block Free plan usage that we believe is automated, abusive, or attempting to circumvent the one-audit limit.

Paid plans, billing, and refunds

Starter and Pro plans are paid subscriptions billed monthly or annually through Stripe. By subscribing, you authorize Citerion to charge your payment method for the plan fees plus any applicable taxes.

Free trial

Both Starter and Pro include a 14-day free trial. Your card is authorized but not charged during the trial. If you cancel before the trial ends, you will not be charged.

Renewal

Subscriptions renew automatically at the end of each billing period (monthly or annual) unless you cancel before the renewal date.

No refunds

Citerion does not offer refunds on completed billing periods, including partial months or unused time. To avoid the next charge, cancel before your renewal date. You will retain access to your plan until the end of the period you have paid for.

Price changes

We may change subscription prices. If we do, the new price will apply to your next renewal and will be reflected on the pricing page. You can cancel before the new price takes effect if you do not agree.

Failed payments

If a renewal payment fails, we will retry the payment for up to 14 days. If payment continues to fail, your account will be downgraded to the Free plan and your paid features will be suspended.

Cancellation

You can cancel your subscription anytime from your billing settings inside the dashboard. No phone call or email is required. Cancellation takes effect at the end of your current billing period. Your audit history and account data are retained per the Privacy Policy.

Acceptable use

When using Citerion, you agree not to:

  • Use the service for any illegal purpose
  • Audit brands you do not own or have permission to research, in a way that violates applicable law
  • Attempt to access another user's account, data, or audit history
  • Reverse-engineer, decompile, or attempt to extract Citerion's source code, models, or proprietary methods
  • Use the service to defame, harass, or harm any person or organization
  • Resell, white-label, or redistribute Citerion's output as your own service without a written commercial agreement
  • Run automated scrapers, bots, or scripts against Citerion's servers
  • Submit content that contains malware, viruses, or other harmful code
  • Use the service in a way that places unreasonable load on Citerion's infrastructure

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these rules.

Intellectual property

Our property

Citerion, the Citation Ecosystem Model™, the citerion.ai brand, the Citerion logo, and all software, designs, content, and methodologies that make up the service are the property of the operator and protected by copyright, trademark, and other intellectual property laws. Your subscription gives you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable right to use the service as described in these Terms. It does not transfer ownership of anything.

Your property

You retain ownership of the brand information, URLs, and other inputs you submit to run audits. You grant Citerion a limited license to process this information to deliver the service to you. We do not claim ownership of your data and we do not use it to train AI models.

Audit outputs

The audit reports, recommendations, scores, and analytical outputs Citerion generates for you are made available for your business use. You may share excerpts internally and with your team. You may not republish them as your own original work, sell them, or use them as the basis for a competing AI visibility product.

Third-party services

Citerion relies on third-party AI engines and infrastructure providers to deliver its service, including Anthropic, Perplexity, Supabase, Vercel, Stripe, Resend, Google, and Cloudflare. We are not responsible for the actions, outages, errors, or policies of these third parties. Their terms and privacy policies govern your relationship with them where applicable.

Disclaimers

Citerion's audits and analyses are derived from third-party AI engines whose outputs change over time and can contain errors, omissions, or hallucinations. We do not guarantee that:

  • The audit results are complete, accurate, or current at any given moment
  • Following Citerion's recommendations will produce a specific business outcome (such as increased traffic, citations, or revenue)
  • The service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or available in any specific region

The service is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement.

Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Citerion and its operator are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, including lost profits, lost revenue, lost data, or business interruption, arising out of or related to your use of the service.

Our total liability for any claim arising out of or related to these Terms or the service is limited to the amount you paid Citerion in the 12 months preceding the event giving rise to the claim, or $100, whichever is greater.

Some jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion or limitation of certain damages. In those jurisdictions, the limitations above apply only to the extent permitted by law.

Indemnification

You agree to defend, indemnify, and hold harmless Citerion and its operator from any claims, damages, liabilities, costs, and expenses (including reasonable attorneys' fees) arising out of: (a) your use of the service in violation of these Terms; (b) your violation of any law or third-party right; or (c) any content or input you submit to the service.

Termination

You may stop using Citerion at any time by canceling your subscription and closing your account. We may suspend or terminate your account if you violate these Terms, if your account remains inactive for an extended period, or if we discontinue the service. Upon termination, your right to use the service ends immediately. Sections of these Terms that by their nature should survive termination (intellectual property, disclaimers, limitation of liability, governing law) will continue to apply.

Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Georgia, United States, without regard to its conflict-of-law rules. The federal and state courts located in Gwinnett County, Georgia, will have exclusive jurisdiction over any disputes arising out of or related to these Terms or the service, and you consent to the personal jurisdiction of those courts.

Disputes

Before filing any formal legal claim, you agree to contact Citerion at legal@citerion.ai with a description of the dispute and to attempt good-faith resolution for at least 30 days.

Changes to these terms

We may update these Terms as the service and our business evolve. When we make changes, we will update the "Last updated" date. Your continued use of Citerion after changes take effect means you accept the updated Terms. If you do not agree, your remedy is to stop using the service and cancel your subscription.

Severability and entire agreement

If any part of these Terms is found unenforceable, the rest remains in effect. These Terms, along with the Privacy Policy and any plan-specific addenda, are the entire agreement between you and Citerion concerning the service.
